TOS 1600 Tower 170 cm 36″

The TOS 1600 Tower puts the air outlet where tall trees actually need it. A 170 cm tower above the 36″ angled-intake fan releases the air band horizontally into the canopy at height, instead of asking air launched at ground level to climb four metres and still carry spray when it arrives.

That geometry is what separates spraying tall orchards from misting their bottom halves. In mature macadamia, avocado, mango and old-standard citrus — the tall, dense canopies of South Africa's subtropical belt — a tower machine deposits chemical in the top third where rust, thrips and stink bugs actually live. Eighteen nozzle positions up the tower, angled and curved deflectors, and the 153 L/min AR 1604 pump complete the package.

Why this machine

Built around the work

170 cm tower — air delivered at canopy height — diagram

170 cm tower — air delivered at canopy height

The tower releases air horizontally along its full height through angled, curved wide-angle outlets. Air enters the canopy perpendicular to the foliage — the shortest path to the leaf — instead of dissipating on a long climb from a ground-level outlet.

18 nozzle positions up the tower

Eighteen holders distributed vertically put nozzles adjacent to every canopy layer. Shut off tower sections for shorter blocks and run it as a conventional machine — one sprayer for the tall orchard and the young one.

36″ angled-intake fan, wide-angle outlet

The 93 cm (36″) fan draws air through an angled intake — cleaner airflow, less turbulence, more of the fan's energy arriving as usable air at the tree. Ten adjustable-pitch blades and a two-speed gearbox with neutral let you tune air volume to canopy stage; wide-angle deflectors spread the air band to cover taller rows without a tower.

AR 1604 pump — 153 L/min at 50 bar

The Annovi Reverberi AR 1604 four-diaphragm pump delivers up to 153 litres per minute at 50 bar. That is enough flow to run a full set of nozzles on both sides at orchard pressures and keep the tank agitated — the difference between a suspension that stays mixed and one that settles in row twenty.

AR By Matic 50 constant-pressure control

The AR By Matic 50 control unit holds your set pressure as sections open and close, with a master shut-off within reach. Set it once at the row end and the dose stays put — no creeping pressure as the tank empties.

Galvanised chassis and fan housing

Chassis and fan housing are hot-dip galvanised, not painted. Spray chemistry, fertiliser dust and washdowns eat paint in a season or two; galvanising is why these machines still look serviceable when they change hands years later.

Questions

TOS 1600 Tower 170 cm 36″ — asked and answered

How tall a tree can the Tower reach effectively?

The 170 cm tower on the 36″ fan places effective air well into canopies far beyond a conventional outlet's reach — the practical limit depends on density and row width. Tell us your crop, tree height and spacing; we'll be straight about whether this machine or the TOS 3000 HP is the right call.

Can I use the Tower in mixed-age orchards?

Yes — tower sections shut off independently, so you can spray a young block with the lower outlets only and open the full tower for mature rows.

Are spare parts available in South Africa?

Yes. Pump diaphragms and seals, control unit parts, nozzle bodies and tips are stocked at our Oudtshoorn workshop. Email abie@timagri.com or WhatsApp a photo of the part — most items ship same week.

Is the TOS 1600 Tower set up before delivery?

Every TIMAGRI sprayer is commissioned on your farm: nozzles matched to your rows and target rate, pressure verified across all sections, and the operator walked through the controls before the first tank goes out.

Tell us your rows. We'll spec the sprayer.

Crop, row spacing, tractor horsepower — that's all we need to quote the right configuration, usually within one working day.
